Pick a style and size, upload your favorite photos, and tell me what makes them them: where they're happiest, what they always do.
A 25% deposit holds your place, refundable until painting begins. I'll reply within one business day to plan the composition and surface.
You see and approve the composition first. Then painting begins and the second 25% is due. Most portraits take 4–6 weeks.
You get photos of the finished piece and one round of small tweaks. Once you approve and pay the balance, it ships free in the US.
Meet the artist
I've been painting for 15 years and loving dogs for even longer. What I care about most is likeness. Not a dog that looks like a Golden, but one that looks and feels like your Golden.
When it matters, I paint the place they belong, too: the shoreline, the mountains, the light on the deck that afternoon. A good portrait should make you want to reach in and boop their nose.
I take a limited number of commissions at a time so every piece gets my full attention. Painted Paws is a small, woman- and minority-owned studio, and I'm grateful for every one of you.

Most portraits take 4–6 weeks from your deposit, depending on size, complexity and how many commissions are in the queue. Need it by a specific date? Let me know on the order form. Guaranteed dates can be arranged in writing, and a rush fee may apply.
You approve the sketch before painting starts, and you see photos of the finished portrait before it ships. One round of minor adjustments is included.
Three card payments by Square invoice: 25% to reserve your spot, 25% when painting begins, and the balance once you approve the finished piece. Your first deposit is fully refundable until painting begins.
Portraits make unforgettable gifts. Mention on the order form that it's a gift and when you need it by. Keeping it a surprise? Photos from your phone or their social media usually work, and I'll check them with you before you commit. I can ship the finished portrait straight to the recipient with a gift note, or you can give a gift certificate in any amount and let them choose.
Phone photos are perfect. Look for natural light (near a window or outdoors, no flash), shots taken at their eye level so the eyes are sharp, and their real expression: the head tilt, the ear flop, the look. Send several so I can capture coat and markings. I can remove collars, harnesses, glare and clutter, and if a photo won't work I'll tell you before you pay a thing.
